GHAMUN'16
A blueprint for a better future
History of GHAMUN
The Ghana Model United Nations conference is the largest and most prestigious MUN conference in West Africa. The conference is based in Accra, Ghana and is hosted by Lincoln Community School. In February of 2016, Lincoln Community School will be hosting the 11th annual Conference. Despite its relatively short history, GHAMUN has had participants from all over Africa, as well as Europe and the Middle East.
In 2004 LCSMUN was founded in the hope of raising interest in international relations and world politics in the minds of secondary school students. The conference grew yearly attracting international schools from Germany, Lebanon, Nigeria, Mali, Mozambique, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Switzerland as well as local schools from Accra. The conference is ideal for eager students who want to actively participate and challenge themselves because GHAMUN is large enough to enable healthy debate, yet not so large as to disable participation.
GHAMUN

GHAMUN’s prime objective is to develop open-minded, cooperative students that are passionate about human rights, disarmament, globalization, protection of the environment, economic and social development and multilateral diplomacy. It seeks to provide students with opportunities to engage in activities such as problem solving and conflict resolution while also creating an ideal environment for participants to mingle and meet new people from all over the world. GHAMUN strives to satisfy the objectives set by the United Nations in the Preamble to the Charter of the United Nations.
Ghana
Accra is an ideal location for a Model United Nations Conference, not only because it is the home country of former Secretary General Kofi Annan, but because Ghana is widely recognized as the most politically stable country in Africa. This stability offers a safe environment for young students to explore their passion for international relations through collective cooperation and participation at the GHAMUN 2016 Conference.
